Performance figures for a purported Intel Raptor Lake P mobile CPU newly spread on User benchmark. The 14-core chip beat the top-end Core i9-12900HK in both single and multithreaded workloads.

A purported Intel Raptor Lake mobile CPU newly showed up on the User benchmark platform. The 14-core, the 20-thread chip stood spotted by tipster @momomo_us and is obviously paired with next-gen LPDDR5 memory.

The Raptor Lake chip hit out the Alder Lake Core i9-12900HK in both single and multithreaded workloads, despite making it featured a relatively tame 4.2 GHz turbo clock. The performance differential wasn’t huge, however. In the User benchmark’s single-threaded testing, the Raptor Lake chip had little less than a 10% lead over Alder Lake.

Thinking that we’re examining an engineering sample pre-release, it’s completely likely that the actual Raptor Lake product's energy delivers even better performance. Intel’s Raptor Lake P chips aren’t expected to be free anytime soon, with Q1 2023 a potential launch timeframe.

This introduces some tempting possibilities with concerns to GPU pairings: we could notice future Raptor Lake chips paired with Intel’s ARC discrete GPUs as well as NVIDIA’s forthcoming Ada Lovelace RTX cards.
